ABOUT US : In 1973 we were "A Private Townhouse Affair" on the upper eastside of Manhattan, and we almost single-handedly started a new off-premises catering specialty of finding private Event Spaces, Unique Venues, Loft Spaces, and Unusual Party Sites for our clients in order to create important the events of the week, the year, and the lifetime. These Reception Venues have included extraordinary townhouses and mansions and our magnificant carriage house venue and Manhattan Penthouse loft space venue.
Our clients have responded enthusiastically to our Event Spaces and Reception Venues which are so different from traditional banquet halls, private clubs, and hotels in terms of our significant customization of food, decor, and many other aspects including the serving of creative and cutting edge foods in our Event Venue Spaces. Our Event Venues have hosted countless wedding receptions, corporate events, charity functions, family celebrations, and non-profit fund raisers.
Probably the longest running Event Venue Caterer in Manhattan, our Reception Venue Events have included the finest assortments of customized cuisine over the years, as we have participated in all the major culinary trends for four decades as witnessed in our eclectic menus. Our Reception Venues have always included generous, elegant and updated cuisine, close productive planning relationships with clients, and great values.
For four decades we have made extraordinary Manhattan reception venues available for client's events amassing enormous experience setting up party spaces with equipment, kitchens, bars, dining areas, staffing, music, and audiovisual almost anywhere, not only in clients' homes and places of work, but also in places like FAO Schwartz, NY Public Library, Ralph Lauren, Radio City Music Hall, CBS Studios, Southebys, Explorers Club, Colonial Dames, and Central Park.
We don't have an outdoor terrace in our carriage house, but we do have many plants, trees, and a Garden Room. We don't have rooftop access with our penthouse, but we do have an 8000 square foot floor with almost more window than wall. It's like being Outdoors. We do bring our catering to other rentable venues around town that have outdoor areas, however.
Party Lofts are very appealing to New Yorkers, and our two Reception Venues are beautiful lofts with lots of open space for guests to comfortably celebrate. Our loft-like venues can be set up in many ways, including for grazing parties, formal dinners, ceremonies and presentations, and lounge effects. We use banks of dimable lighting, pin spots, and candles to create drama and to highlight details and table centerpieces.
Manhattan Penthouse and Alger House are two magnificent entertainment options for Corporate Events, Private Dinners and Receptions, and many kinds of guest functions and celebrations. They are quite different from each other and can be set up in many ways for informal and formal effects. We have years of experience helping clients design many kinds of events. Alger House is particularly suitable for very small events for as few as 25 guests, and Manhattan Penthouse works for as few as 50 during the week. Alger House is one of the best deals in town for weekday bookings. We can cater a fine dinner for twenty to thirty guests, including fine foods and wines, for less than many alternative spaces around town.
We host many daytime meetings, brainstorming sessions, workshops, Interview filmings, book signings, and Press and Publicity events. We create outstanding Continental and American Breakfasts as well as Light Lunches and more formal Buffet and Served Lunches, with Snack Breaks and Coffees and Beverages running all day. Both our locations have the quiet privacy and magical atmosphere conducive to workshops, brainstorming and breakout sessions. Some of our daytime events end with a Cocktail Reception.
Both of our venues have the comfort, quiet, easy access, high ceilings, and experienced help in setting up filming, photography, and interviews, with areas for changing and makeup and arrangements for inexpensive meals and snacks. More than that, our venues have the various interesting backgrounds that are required for multiple filming set ups.
Small dinners with special menus and wines in one of our amazing party rooms, just like a restaurant, but even better! Costs run approximately $125.00 to $200.00 per person, all in, depending on the guest count, the meal, and the special wines, for 8 to 24 guests. Perfect for special celebrations by individuals or corporations.
Sam Milliken, holder of the Intermediate Certificate from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, can design your wine tasting cocktail reception or dinner for small or large groups in one of our event spaces. The liquor license at Manhattan Penthouse allows us to include top quality wines affordably at Manhattan Penthouse.
4 hour workshop for 8 or more persons on how to prepare selected foods for entertaining at home, inlcuding ideas for hors d'oeuvres and dinners. $200.00 per person. Includes food and drink.
